A meditive painting on the oneness of the universe. 'Kosmos' seeks to portray how all energies are connected: soul, spirit, heart, mind and earth.
It examines the over-soul of conscious beings (collective conscious), the spirit and character of the individual, emotions of the heart, mind and intellect and the material organisation of matter in the space-time continuum.
This painting is to provoke a sense of oneness and awe of complexity and how these energies are interlinked and that we are all connected to the universe - we are the cosmos and at the same time individuals; we are not alone and never were.
Only constructs and beliefs developed over time by the ego prevent us from seeing, perpetuated by social and cultural beliefs and practices.
My mind has been fighting this realisation for a long time and I believe, in our current cultural narrative, we are constantly brain-washed that we are individuals and separate from the universe by mainstream media although I believe this is changing and have seen such evidence in my lifetime. These beliefs especially affected me as a teenager growing up in the UK - I felt isolated, alone and separate from the universe and suffered from depression.
The structure of the painting is based on the organisation of galaxies over-laid with a mandala warped into a cross or crucifix. This represents the sacrifice of aspects of the ego and the realisation that we are one with the universe. Universal love I believe is the driving force behind all existence - in other terminology it is referred to as Christ consciousness, Buddha-mind and the divine.
