This piece of art was inspired by a wall piece of all the reindeer my parents used to put up on the wall each year. They used to point out and name each reindeer. I used to wait excitedly until it was placed in its usual spot. For this reason I wanted to make a piece of art work people could take out of storage each year and place in the right spot.
This piece is a mash up of all Christmas traditions. Inspired by Christianity, paganism, physics (the earth orbit and seasons), Buddhism, and modern traditions of Santa claws and st Nick and leaving out mince pies, a drink and carrots on Christmas eve.
The aim of this piece is to connect the viewer with the environmental seasonal change of Christmas and how this effects us mentally and the play on tradition. How you can adapt traditions and make new ones.

Xmas Island
On the 25th Day of 12th Month of the year,
the island of Xmas passes it annual orbit of the earth.
The death of the old and the birth of the new.
As a new dawn rises,
the sun and our saviour,
rises a new in the east.
Its path lights the way,
through the eyes of the Buddha fairy Santa claws.
It charges the light of the gem stone of life,
the guiding star.
The Star that the three wise men follow,
to gain the wisdom of truth.
They leave their shadows at the door,
their past and their future.
Their judgements and power.
To except the present of being present.
Leaving their offerings of a mince pie, whiskey and one large carrot.
The gem stone burns,
the candle lights the darkness,
the divine illumination of the spirit of truth.
It lights the spring of time and
starts the melting of the waters of life.
This turns the water mill,
the wheel of destiny,
and directs the flow of energy once again to rebirth, growth and change.
Down pours the waters of life,
down the waterfall,
falling over the lands below,
letting summer return once more.
